On Martin Luther and the 95 Theses, the old history as I learned it from Professor Anne Lynch many years ago was that he did indeed nail it up, that this was considered a challenge to a debate, BUT the game changer was that students were hitting some kind of break and returned home all hyped up for this event, thus spreading word far and wide. That said, while I am not old enough to have actually been present, I am old enough for new information to have come out that could have a new, improved narrative as to how it all actually went down.
