The European Union on Monday sanctioned four recently appointed ministers in the Syrian government. All were appointed to the cabinet in August. Since none of them have been in office long enough to do very much, their crime essentially is being on good terms with Bashar al-Assad. Any assets they have in Europe will be frozen and they’ll be barred from traveling into the EU absent special permission.
