AFP is reporting that a US airstrike killed a “senior” al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula official, Hamad bin Hamoud al-Tamimi, in Yemen’s Maʾrib province. One of Tamimi’s bodyguards was also killed. It’s unclear from the reporting whether this strike took place on Wednesday or was only reported on Wednesday.
