According to the United Nations human rights office, 19 civilians have been killed in connection with the Yemen war over the past two months, while the now-renewed ceasefire has been in effect. Media outlets seem to be framing this as a sign that the ceasefire has failed, which is bizarre to me because I view the ceasefire as the reason only 19 civilians have been killed over that period. I would particularly view it that way given that only three of those 19 seem to have been killed in incidents that could be described as ceasefire violations, while the rest were killed by explosive devices that were most likely put in place before the ceasefire came into effect.
