  • The New York Times is tracking global vaccine distribution.

MIDDLE EAST

TURKEY

Another significant earthquake, this one with a magnitude of 6.4, struck southwestern Turkey on Monday. This one was centered near the city of Antakya, which like the rest of Hatay province was badly damaged by the earthquake (or quakes—the initial aftershock was powerful enough to qualify) that hit near Gaziantep earlier this month. According to Turkish authorities at least three people were killed and more than 200 injured, though it’s probably difficult to assess the extent of the damage given that the region is still recovering from the previous quake. Over 41,000 people in Turkey and 4500 in Syria are confirmed to have died in that incident.
