MIDDLE EAST

LEBANON

Around 12 people were reportedly injured on Friday by some sort of explosion in a Palestinian refugee camp in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre. Initial reports suggested a much higher casualty count including several dead, but those seem to have been mistaken. There’s some dispute about the cause of the explosion, with theories ranging from a detonation in “a Hamas weapons depot” to a mishap in a facility stockpiling oxygen tanks for use treating COVID patients.
