TURKEY

The Turkish and Israeli governments announced on Wednesday that they will appoint new ambassadors to their respective embassies, over four years after they partially broke off ties due to violence in Gaza and the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem. Ties between the two countries have been steadily improving for some time now, in part because they’re exploring ways to collaborate on exploiting offshore energy deposits in the eastern Mediterranean, so restoring full diplomatic ties was the next step in that process.
