YEMEN
Yemen’s four month ceasefire is coming to an end on Tuesday with little indication that the parties are preparing to renew it. That doesn’t mean they won’t renew it at the last minute, or even beyond the last minute so to speak, just that things aren’t looking terribly promising at present. There’s a new piece at Al-Monitor from an anonymous Yemeni correspondent that I think does a credible job of explaining what a failure to renew this truce will mean for the Yemeni people, particularly those living under Saudi blockade in northern Yemen, as well as the fact that both sides have been using the ceasefire as much to prepare for resuming their war as to negotiate a way out of the conflict.
