This week, multiple explosions caused leaks in Russia’s Nord Stream 1 and 2 natural gas pipelines. The four Ukrainian regions under Russian occupation voted in favor of annexation. Violent protests over the death of Iranian woman Mahsa Amini continued and the crisis expanded to northern Iraq. The Biden administration announced a new aid package for the Pacific Islands. Italy’s parliamentary election produced a right-wing government as expected. And another military coup in Burkina Faso replaced one junta with another.
