The Biden administration begins sanctioning Nicaragua, Belarus begins repatriating migrants, and more
This week, border tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan escalated into a serious clash. The migrant crisis in Belarus showed signs of easing, though the situation remains unstable. Billions of dollars in Iranian assets were unfrozen ahead of new talks on reviving the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. The Biden administration announced the first of what are likely to be many new sanctions against the government of Nicaragua, which had an announcement of its own regarding the Organization of American States. And the emerging field for next month’s Libyan presidential election drew protests as leaders squabble over the vote’s legal basis.
