Israel strikes Gaza, the US kills the leader of al-Qaeda, and more

This week, Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan amid a flurry of Chinese saber-rattling. A US drone strike allegedly killed a key al-Qaeda leader in Kabul. The warring parties in Yemen agreed to another eleventh-hour extension of their ceasefire. Airstrikes by the Israeli military killed at least 15 people in Gaza in what it called a “preemptive” strike. And the first grain-carrying ship departed Ukrainian waters following the reopening of the Black Sea to Ukrainian food exports.
