The US military takes out another IS leader, North Korea escalates its weapons testing, and more
This week, an attempted military coup in Guinea-Bassau appears to have failed. Amnesty International released a new report claiming Israeli treatment of Palestinians meets the definition of apartheid. North Korea conducted its seventh weapons test in a month, this time featuring an intermediate-range ballistic missile. Another busy week of Russia-Ukraine news was capped by a US claim that it’s uncovered a Russian plan to carry out a “false flag” attack. Finally, the Syrian Democratic Forces militia declared it had fully regained control over its prison facility in Hasakah, and the US military claimed to have killed the leader of Islamic State.
