This week, the Chinese government released its proposal for bringing the war in Ukraine to an end, in the face of suggestions that Beijing is considering sending weapons to support the Russian war effort in Ukraine. Joe Biden visited Kyiv before announcing a hefty new tranche of military and financial aid. Yemeni rebels and Saudi Arabia began negotiations for a fresh ceasefire amid reports of renewed fighting. Iran scrambled to play down reports that International Atomic Energy Agency monitors had detected unknown quantities of uranium enriched to 84 percent. And, Nigerian authorities tightened security ahead of its general election this weekend.
