An earthquake devastates Turkey and Syria, Israel legalizes West Bank settlements, and more
This week, Russian forces renewed their offensive on Bakhmut while the Biden administration is reportedly sending signals to the Ukrainian government about the limits of Western support. Israel and Hamas exchanged rockets after a spate of shootings and raids in the West Bank. Turkey and Syria scrambled to respond to a devastating earthquake. The UK and EU appeared to make progress on a new agreement over the status of Northern Ireland. And, US military forces shot down multiple objects over North American airspace before conceding that they were likely were not Chinese surveillance devices.
