Biden signs new Chinese export controls into law, tension over Niger's coup continue to simmer, and more
This week, US President Joe Biden signed more Chinese export controls into law, while also reaching an agreement with Iran for a bilateral prisoner exchange plus the release of $6 billion in Iranian funds. ECOWAS’ promised invasion of Niger failed to materialize after the new Nigerian junta refused to return power to former president Mohamed Bazoum. The Biden Administration cooled expectations around a deal to normalize Israeli-Saudi relations. And, a wave of deadly Russian airstrikes struck Ukrainian civilian targets as Ukraine’s counteroffensive slogged onward.
