ECOWAS leaders meet in Ghana, pessimistic forecasts for Ukraine’s counteroffensive, and more
This week, ECOWAS leaders met in Ghana to again threaten military intervention in Niger, whose new junta refused to restore the civilian government. Allegations emerged that the United Arab Emirates has been sending weapons and ammunition to the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan. The US intelligence community projected the Ukrainian counteroffensive to fall short of its main goal. Iranian officials clarified some of the terms of the emerging US-Iranian prisoner deal. And, Joe Biden met Yoon Suk-yeol and Kishida Fumio at Camp David to bolster their growing alliance against North Korea and China.
