YEMEN

At least ten Yemeni soldiers were killed overnight in an apparent attack by Houthi/Ansar Allah forces near the city of Taiz. The Yemeni government is accusing the rebels of attempting to cut off a road leading into the city. As far as I know there’s been no comment on this from rebel leadership and many details are missing from this account, like how many casualties the rebels suffered and whether they were driven completely back or made territorial gains. But assuming the government’s account is accurate this incident could threaten the country’s tenuous ceasefire. Under the terms of the original ceasefire agreement in April the rebels are supposed to be relieving their siege of Taiz, not attempting to tighten it.
